Cory cracks me up sometimes. This was his recap of his Labor Day (and I'm paraphrasing because I didn't write this down when he said it and I totally should have):

I went and got a 40 of malt liquor because I'd always wanted to try it. I spent the evening drinking and trying to figure out if I could calculate how much each ounce of pure alcohol would cost in the malt liquor and then compare that to vodka to see which would be cheaper.

At least he's intellectual.  I spent Labor Day dog sitting and watching Soapnet's marathon of the original 90210.  But only because What Not to Wear wasn't on.

Apparently there's more options than just Rock, Paper, Scissors.

1. Poacher, Ranger, Bear

2. Shark, Wave, Surfer

Can any one think of any others?

John Edwards is back on TV on the WE Channel. Loooooove it! I don't care what people think, his Crossing Over episodes are fascinating.

Doh!
Hey, so I lugged a box all the way to the post office during my lunch break for my boss. Hey, did you know it's a national holiday and the post office is closed? Yeah. It is.

What Not to Wear is a repeat, but The Wizard of Oz is on. I love the beginning the most when she sings Over The Rainbow. After the week I've had, I wish I could fly away and land in a magical place. Hearing that song still makes me want to sing along just like I used to do when I was four. That could possibly be the very first song I ever learned.
She just walked into the munchkin land...gotta go, it's getting good. :-)

So I ended up asking the lady next to me to save my seat on the concrete so I could pee. I promised I'd do the same for her since she was also by herself. I passed the two hours waiting in the Oval by blogging (obviously) and reading my guide book. Eventually it got too dark to read, but I didn't have to wait much longer for the Pops to start. Soon I heard the familiar Concert B-flat tuning and before I knew it Keith (what's his last name?) welcoming the crowd and starting in on a rousing patriotic tune. All of a sudden I forgot that my butt hurt and that my back was aching. I was giddy at the sight and sound of the famous Boston Pops. John Mellancamp preformed "This is our country" and "R.O.C.K. in the U.S.A" and the Blue Man group preformed as well as this year's Boston Pops-star (kinda like American Idol) sang so beautifully to Sweeny Todd's "Not While I'm Around" that she brought tears to my eyes. And don't forget the 1812 Overture and the Americana Song Sing-Along. TOO much fun!!!! I waved my little flag I received when I entered the park and sang my little heart out along with everyone else in attendance. It was such a heart-warming evening.

(More photos on Flickr)

But the whole day rocked too! I found my way around without so much as a hiccup (well, I did get confused coming home, but Sachi helped direct me...it's not my fault that the building numbers on Mass Ave go up into the thousands and THEN start again at 1 when you enter Arlington. No one told me THAT). I went to the Harvard Museum of Natural History (after walking around the campus for awhile trying not to look like a tourist...I think I still pass for a college student) - here's some of the natural things I saw.

The largest turtle shell EVER

The largest swimming-thing EVER

The largest Mammoth thing EV-ER

and these guys...they just wanted to say 'Wassup' to Jason.

Went to the JFK Museum as well.  I think it was my favorite part of the day.  There was so much history and so much about his life and political career that I've only been vaguely aware of.  I was enthralled with every film clip, artifact and photo in that museum.  I stayed for 3 hours and would have stayed longer if I could have.  I didn't take any photos inside the main exhibit, but some of the outside memorial to JFK was just too beautiful to not document.

What I hadn't realized before was that JFK only served a little over 1,000 days before he was assassinated.  Eerie.

Kash is actually off of work tomorrow (go figure, on a holiday), so I'm dragging him to the Prudential Building and then we're going to go drink.  Beer.  Probably all day.  Sweet.

Just like old times.

Ever notice that Taco Bell salsa packets have little phrases and comments on them?  They're written from the perspective of the salsa packet.  Some that stick out in my mind are, "It's hot in here."  and "I'm in good hands now."

I often get the same random phrases, I smile and then open the packet and chuck them afterwards.  But yesterday, in the midst of a crazy, hectic day, I grabbed some Taco Bell while out on an errand and discovered a brand new phrase on my salsa packet.  It read:  "At night the sporks pick on me."

How sad, yet, very amusing.  The packet is still on my desk - I couldn't open it; it was too funny to ruin.

It is my HALF BIRTHDAY!  Yeah!   I'll be treating myself to half a cake or something like that later today.  Please visit
Clair and wish her a happy half day as well because the two of us share the same mid-taurus month birthday.  :-)

I'm wearing work pants that happen to have a cuff at the bottom.  While walking fast to my desk my heel somehow got caught up in the cuff action and not only did I trip over myself but I flew a few feet in the air before (THANK GOD) catching myself on my desk so that I didn't take a complete face plant into the floor and when I stood up one of our Associates was looking at me, the other admin near me looked horrified and my right, cute, little kitten-heel shoe was across the room.

What did I do??

I hobbled across the workspace to collect my shoe and said, "Boy, THAT was graceful."

Our scheduled lunch delivery is arriving about 75 minutes later than normal today and when I got the email notice of the delay I decided to check out the snack cupboard.  I was having a little craving for some dry cereal (I'm not a big cereal WITH milk fan.  I've always liked it dry as a snack).  I looked at the Special K with dried strawberries - nah.  Cheerios - always a good choice, but lets continue.  Frosted Flakes - nah.  OOOOOooooo, TRIX - I haven't had these in years!  I looked at the box and saw that the little round pebbles were now shaped like fruit and flowers - weird, but, OKAY, I'll go with it.
I popped in a handful and about spit it out.  What's with the fake, plastic-ey fruit flavor???  Was that always there????  Anyone else try these lately after not having them since they were 10?

As I sit here, now eating the plain Cheerios, I can't help but wonder, does eating Trix at age 25 make me a Silly Rabbit?

It's my second anniversary of meeting Karl (we've officially been celebrating on this day since we really didn't pay attention to the date we actually started dating exclusively...) and in being the great, sweet girlfriend that I am, I woke up early and baked him some blueberry muffins.  I am not a fan of blueberries, so I never make them, so I knew he'd really like them.  So I woke up early to make them  and drive them over to his place before he left for work around 7:10a.  We're also going to a baseball game tonight, so I had to get myself ready for work, pack a bag of clothes to change into for the game (including a heavier jacket and tennis shoes which I had to root around in my closet for), AND in case I crash at Karl's tonight I had to pack an extra bag to store in the trunk of my car for work clothes and stuff for tomorrow.

SO, the muffins were in, I had about 15 minutes to prepare my bags and fix my hair and makeup.  I kept running up and down the stairs checking on the muffins and running back to my bathroom to continue my morning routine.  I finally got everything together and started heading downstairs one last time to collect the muffins and go - it was 6:50 and I had just enough time to get to Karl's and head through the canyon to make it to my BART train.  I grabbed my purse, my bag for tonight, my bag for tomorrow and bolted down the stairs. Only I fell down them instead.  It was only about 5 steps, but my foot slipped on the carpet and I went DOWN.  I slid a ways on my butt, but in the process I definitely bruised my rear parts (wonderful), hit my shoulder on the top stair (guess it's better than my head) and made a huge, loud crashing noise in the process, probably scaring my roommate and his poor, light-sleeper girlfriend to death.

I sat for a moment to collect myself and try to put the image of me falling completely down the stairs and slamming into the wall at the bottom of the landing (ala spanish soap operas) out of my head.  I let out a small "OW" and looked at my roommate's bedroom door - it didn't open and I didn't hear anything, so I just got up and left.  I'm kinda sore, but I think my inner dork is completely mortified.  .

NOTE TO SELF: Must remember to take steps one and a time going down.

Oh! The muffins were a hit! :-)

Lance is out.  I figured it out a couple of years ago.  I'm not sure if there was an exact instance or an article or interview that caused me to take notice, or maybe my Gaydar finally kicked in...but anyway, he was my FAVORITE of the boy banders.  I even had a large N*Sync poster of him on my dorm room wall for two years.  My residents couldn't believe their R.A. had a poster of Lance.  "How juvenille!" they mocked as they headed back to their rooms to listen to Brittney Spears and watch Ten Things I Hate About You
Forget Justin, I never was into him.  J.C. was cool, I remembered him from the MMC days.  Chris was funny, but too old.  Same with Joey...plus he had that whole getting that girl pregnant thing.  Lance was cute and seemed fairly innocent - perfect for a 17-year old girl.

Mock me, tease me or loathe my choice of music if you must - but I was once a silly, teenage girl and I do not make any apologies for that.  Plus, we all need our guilty pleasures now and again.

This is from one of those Tickle.com tests.....I'm biding my time till I can leave work....Can you tell??  :-p  N-E-Who - I'm SMART!!

Your IQ score is 127

This number is based on a scientific formula that compares how many questions you answered correctly on the Classic IQ Test relative to others.

Your Intellectual Type is Visionary Philosopher. This means you are highly intelligent and have a powerful mix of skills and insight that can be applied in a variety of different ways. Like Plato, your exceptional math and verbal skills make you very adept at explaining things to others — and at anticipating and predicting patterns. And that's just some of what we know about you from your IQ results.

Of course, I may have to see/read things in order to understand them (as opposed to listening and recalling) and I'm pretty good and puzzles and spatial problems, BUT I still can't drive around San Ramon without getting lost.  Why is that?

Yeah, I’m so smart. Lin and I went over to Napa Ranch on California and Montgomery for lunch today and they have these daily trivia questions on a chalkboard by the register…today’s question was: In speed skating what does the skater wear to signal he has the right of way when passing lanes? I answered, half guessing, half pretty sure, that the skater wears an armband. The register lady (very brass, but cute, older lady who seems to “run” the place) said, “You’re right, but I already gave out the first 12 prizes, so you get this…close your eyes…” I closed my eyes and felt her stick something to my jacket. When I opened my eyes it was a sticker label that read, “I’m smart, but late.” HAHAHAHAHA. Too cute.

My roommies and I sing silly songs sometimes - that's where the subject heading comes from. Anyone know where it originated?? Take a guess - it's completely random, but one of those things that if you've heard it then you'll remember where it's from. (Hint - think TV shows)

I bought a queen-sized bed last week and it was delivered on Saturday. So far so good - except that it's so soft and comfy, and it's so nice that I can bury myself under all my blankets and pillows, that I refuse to get up in the morning. I just want to sleep. I've been craving my bed the last two days while I'm at work.
Now I just need to arrange my room to fit around the fastness of my bed - also, I should start putting things up on the walls. I may possibly make the space feel like my home before the end of my lease this time around.
I have a bunch of color panoramic photos of San Francisco that I've been thinking of framing and hanging around the room...but I'm having problems finding the right sized frames. Any suggestions on places to go would be helpful and appreciated. I looked at the frame store over on 21st Ave, and then peered around in Cheap Pete's with no luck. Right now the only things that I have up are my calendar and a great Hallmark card from my best friend, Boom (It reminds me that 1) I'm loved, and 2) that I have an awesome best friend who just "gets" me - hard to come by in this world)
anyhoo....totally time to leave work - days have just been flying by (knock on wood)

Complete Random Things on my Mind Today:
-The cable car line on my block has been stopped due to repairs. They have a small Muni bus/shuttle taking care of the people that use that line to go to work -- why, oh why, is that little shuttle even noisier than the cable car?? Will I ever be able to sleep without thinking I'm sleeping under a roller coaster?
-DeLaSalle has lost twice and tied once this season after being unbeatable since 1991. This could be Pitt's year if they can control Liberty on Oct. 22nd (You better believe that I'm going to be there). Why do I prefer high school football to any other sport?? I'm not stuck in high school (although I know some types like that) but I find the game and the community involvement so exciting.
-The weird Fed-ex guy that unwelcomingly hits on me everyday has not been around this week - he's been replaced with a short guy with a major 'tude. Why can't anything ever be easy? *sigh*

It's been that type of week. I just keep saying "Holy Cow" I like that phrase. I think it's cute - hopefully it suits me. You know how some people can get away with saying certain catch phrases while others can't - like when your mom tries to sound cool and says something random like "whoop! there it is" only she doesn't say whoop, she says whamp, or she'll say it in front of your friends so you're completely embarrassed(not that that ever happened to me...). Yeah, hopefully that's not how my "Holy Cow" comes out. I've been trying not to say "Jesus Christ" every time I'm exasperated - which I had a bad habit of. It's small...but I feel better trying to come up with something less used and more friendly sounding. I had a friend that used to say Holy Crapola - but I don't think it sounded natural coming from me - she was just so eloquent at saying it. :-)

anyhoo, here's where the whole Holy Cow thang comes from...I've moved to North Beach. I love it there. The thing about North Beach though, is that in order to get downtown, sometimes I have to take the 30Stockton busline...it goes through Chinatown. Chinatown passengers are rude, loud, and often times the tourists smell. I may have to just walk if I'm ever in a really pissy mood, otherwise I'm afraid I may kill someone. Saying Holy Cow helps - and people think it's funny. I hear them giggling.

and this morning... a TOTAL "Holy Cow" moment. I'm frantically working away at a project which I stayed late last night and arrived early this morning for when some silly girl from the NY office calls to complain about my last expense report. Whatever, I SO didn't have time for her attitude. Apparently I was missing some receipt, which I had the copy of what I sent her right in front of me, I told her I'd fax another copy to her to make her happy, but then she continued to berate me for my report organization. WHATEVER, all my receipts are in order by date and everything is documented. If she could only see the wad of receipts I'm given once a month that are illegible, torn, and missing crucial information for billing!! And it's not so much that she's accusing me of making a mistake (even though it was totally her who overlooked what was right in front of her) but that she had the gall to call me up first thing in the morning, yelling at me from the get-go and then not apologizing once she realized her gaff. grrr...I love the guys I work for (they really are awesome at times) but these NY girls need to take a chill pill. It must be something in the water over there, because all of them feel the need to bark orders at the SF people.

okay, so that's my rant. Now for some fun. My co-worker forwarded this to me -- cool link/game, but I haven't had much time for it. Hopefully you'll get some good use out of it: http://www.logogame.com/index.php
It's a logo game...completely addictive...I just wish there was a free way to get all the answers. oh well. LATER

My roommate April agreed to take in her boss' guinea pigs when he could no longer take care of them and help find them good homes. There are five total, two girls and three boys. And while we have all been asking around for takers and I even placed an ad on Craigslist, it seems a little unreal that someone will be coming to take away one of the boys tonight. I guess I wouldn't be so bummed if they were leaving as a family or if a couple of them were leaving together, but I've definitely grown attached to them, especially the baby boys. I feel bad separating ONE from the clan, I hope he's not scared or lonely!
Yes, I have become an activist for guinea pig rights and feelings...
