I found a Coldplay song I actually like.  So much so I just added it to a playlist on my Ipod that I listen to a majority of the time.  It's called "Till Kingdom Come" off their X&Y album.  I love how simple and lovely it is.  The lyrics are beautiful.

Kinda interesting video (not by the band, just someone on YouTube).  Enjoy.

The last of a two-concert series was a little more mellow and the intermission included some taco bell. Here's the list of CDs that I sang along to all the way home from Reno.

Steele Horse Stampede, "Live at the Onyx" - Picked it up at their set last night at the Peppermill. They're really good - even if my brother's not playing on the CD because he joined the group after they recorded it. I like the original stuff, especially "heartland" and "cadillac boogie."

Marie Digby - Another copy from laura and jason. I'm really digging this one, except for her cover of Rianna's "Umbrella," that one is a bit odd.

Duffy, "Rock Fairy" - only my second listen to this CD. Decent, but upbeat so it got me through the vastness of nothing between Reno and Sacramento.

Frank Sinatra, Best Of - One of the longest CDs I own, I knew it would take me from Dixon to San Ramon without repeating a song. I love singing along, even if Ol' Blue Eyes and I have completely different natural keys. I usually end up singing way high in my headvoice and super low in my chest voice. But I like messing around with the harmonies while no one else is in the car to judge me.

Next concert, I mean, roadtrip is with Clair in July on our way to a fried's wedding; set list TBD

List of CDs that got me from Walnut Creek, Ca to Reno, NV. It was a great one-woman show, unfortunately it was one of only two scheduled performances for this weekend and you have to be in my car to hear it.

Charlotte Sometimes - not sure of the name of the CD, but she totally rocks. Thanks for the copy Jason!

Jackie Green - Sweet Somewhere Bound. Two times! I just love this CD. I think, "oh, this is my favorite song" with each new song, I can't get enough of this one

Bryan Adams Live in Concert - totally one of my favorite guilty pleasures. Who doesn't love belting along to "summer of 69?"

And that's it - 4 hours of music. It was quite a concert.

Listening to Ben Fold's Five's "Brick" on Alice's retro in the metro. 1997 does NOT feel that long ago. I remember when I first heard that song and although I didn't understand everything behind it, I did know that it sounded so different from other songs and I loved it. Still do. As soon as I hear the piano intro I just had to stop everything and listen. Music is so awesome.

Maybe its the way she lets her hair down on a sunday afternoon
maybe its the way that she's romantically attracted to the moon
maybe its the perfume that I know she doesn’t wear
or maybe its the way she dances when she thinks there aint nobody there

she loves me in the morning without warning before the sun begins to rise
and in the evening i can tell her feelings just by looking in her eyes
songbirds in the garden sing to her through frozen holidays
and all my woe and trouble is gonna double when we go our seperate ways

sugar, dandellion, honey, peach never did too much for me
cause I aint no cassanova and no i never ever tried to be
but something in her smile charms me like a child and then
she turns the thieves and outlaws into nothing less than perfect gentlemen

well the moon is in the mountains and the night is taking pictures of the sky
and i've got nothing for you, nothing but this simple lullabye
now should your mind forget me, regret me, or even do me wrong
you’ll always live here in my heart cause baby thats right where you belong

I meant to post this list a few days ago, but kept putting it off because I wanted to find all the music links, and I would have to do that at home on the Mac and I've been watching more TV and out doing yoga and stuff instead of being blog productive.  Happy New Year everyone!  Here's to a 2008 that sucks a little less than 2007.

Kooks - "Moves in Her Own Way"
This is one of those songs that just makes me feel happy.  It's like "Walking on Sunshine" for 2007, you can't NOT be happy when you hear these boys silly accents.  I can barely understand a word they say, but it's a catchy tune.

Plain White T's - "Hey There, Delilah"
I know, i know, this song has been soooo overplayed in the past five months or so.  BUT, it's a good song.  Actually, I gave in and bought the album; it's good.  They remind me a lot of the group "Bowling for Soup."  It's emo-pop, so don't be looking for anything deep, but it's a great CD to put on your IPOD if you're like me and like to run your music in shuffle mode.  Every time one of their songs pops up, I just smile and really enjoy it.

Sara Bareilles - "Love Song"
Not sure why she called her album "Little Voice" when her voice is FAR from little.  Great, great song, it's always playing in my head and I'm humming it all the time at work.  I got the album for Christmas and have been listening to it non-stop.  Other favs are "Love on the Rocks," "City," and "Gravity." I'm hoping she tours around here soon.

John Mayer - "I'm Gonna Find Another You"
How can I not put this song on this list.  I know JM's album came out in 2006, but this song helped me through the first part of 2007 like no other song.  It wasn't sad enough to make me wallow, it was just angry enough to make me feel strong enough to keep going and keep hoping.

James Morrison - "Undiscovered"
Oh, how I've fallen in love with James Morrison's music.  It is the album I've played so often, and especially the title song, "Undiscovered," that I think I may have worn out the CD.  I love, love, love to but this on in my car and have a little Stephanie concert.  "Undiscovered" is my fav because it builds and builds and when it reaches the bridge I just sing as loud as I possibly can, "I'm not lost, not lost! Just undiscovered!"  I had the chance to see the cute brit perform at the Apple Store in SF and I've been a major fan ever since.  "Pieces Don't Fit Here" was also one of those songs that struck a chord with me this year, but someone should have warned me about the video - keep a box of tissues handy if you watch it and you've ever been through a break-up.

Colbie Caillat - "Bubbly"
Similar to, "Hey There Delilah," this was an overplayed, over-hyped song.  But, it's super sweet, and when it comes on the radio i just feel mellow and content.  Who hasn't felt all bubbly inside over new love?  Your toes curl and your heart beats fast and you feel so silly, but it's such a good feeling, and I think this song conveys those feelings pretty well.

Carrie Underwood - "Before He Cheats"
I was probably one of the last people to hear the song.  I don't tend to listen to country and they don't play this song on Alice 97.3, so when I ran across it on a different radio station i was surprised that the American Idol winner had such a great crossover song.  I never paid any attention to her debut CD that got so much acclaim for "Jesus Take the Wheel" so I'm a late addition to the Carrie Underwood fan club, but I'm hooked now.  I can't wait till this song comes out at the Karaoke bars, it's gonna be sooo much fun to sing.

Daughtry - "Going Home" / "Over You"
I don't even remember who won the season of American Idol Chris Daughtry was on because he's the only one with a successful album and touring band.  The man can write some songs!  "Going Home" was all over the place this year due to it's replaying every Wednesday during American Idol when one of the contestants got sent home.  "Over You" is an awesome break-up song.  OK, so maybe there's a theme to some of the songs that I liked best in 2007...

Ingrid Michaelson - "The Way I Am"
This is the last song I'm adding to this list because I just recently heard it and LOVED it.  I'm looking forward to hearing more from this artist.  The song has a chill vibe; very Sunday morning, lying in bed, no worries kind of song.  More happiness like this in 2008 would be much appreciated.

Honorable Mentions:
Fergie's "Big Girls Don't Cry" - She's so contemplative.  This song is always playing when I turn on the radio, so I can't get away from it.  It has started to grow on me.

Amy Winehouse's "Rehab" - We're all singing it.  I hope she lives long enough to put out another album.

Maroon 5 - The "It Won't Be Soon Before Long" album is a decent sophmore attempt.  I really haven't given it too many listens, but nothing stuck out as awful.  "Won't go home without you," "Can't Stop," "Goodnight, Goodnight," "Back at Your Door," all decent songs, but they kinda sound the same.

Kelly Clarkson's "Never Again" - Don't feel too bad for Kelly's flop of an album; she did have two outstanding releases.  She continues with the screaming singing on this album, and the first time I heard the single, I hated it, but then I watched her perform it live and I thought, "wow, that's actually pretty good."  I'm more of a fan of "Sober" and "Be Still."

Feel free to leave your own fav songs of 2007 in the comments section.
